Ranking of Fire
Novice
Novice ranking techniques cause 10 chi to use. Because of this low amount of chi, novice ranking techniques do not cause burns, nor can they set anything on fire. They are more forceful, able to cause minor bruising to an opponent if hit. If the same area is hit with a novice ranking fire technique, then they can cause 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd degree burns. (This would take 4 posts of hitting the same area). The fastest a novice technique could move would be 3 m/s. The maximum range any novice technique is 20 meters.
Apprentice
Apprentice ranking techniques cost 20 chi to use. Because of this the fire has more of a physical form, and both the force and heat have increased. Apprentice techniques can set small objects on fire, such as dry wood or cloth. If hit on skin they can cause an immediate first degree burn, but cannot stay burning as they dissipate quickly because of the low chi amount. If the same area is hit the burn can increase in degree. (So for an apprentice level technique to do 3rd degree burns, a 3 post attack of the same area would be required.) They can cause larger bruising due to the sheer force. They also have enough force to knock an opponent back, but a skilled combatant can prevent themselves from being knocked over. They can move at a maximum 5 m/s. Their maximum range is 30 meters.
Realized
A realized bending technique costs 30 chi to use. This amount of chi causes a more realistic form of fire to be produced. Realized techniques can set wood and cloth on fire, and has enough force to break through wooden barricades and crack stone. The have enough force to wind an opponent, and crack bone if hit directly. They cause an immediate 2nd degree burn, and can burn only for one extra post. If the fire is not put out, the burn will turn into a 3rd degree burn. It takes two direct hits in the same area to cause 3rd degree burns. A realized technique has enough force to floor an unwary opponent. The fastest a realized technique can travel is 8 m/s. The farthest a realized technique can travel is 40 meters.
Advanced
Advanced techniques require 40 chi. They are more powerful then natural flame, and look slightly different. They seem to move and flicker much more. Advanced techniques cause 3rd degree burns on contact, and can burn for two posts if undisturbed. Advanced techniques can break through stone and break bone if hit directly. Advanced fire has enough energy to continue burning an entire forest, and the fire can spread fairly quickly. Advanced techniques travel at a maximum of 10 m.s, and the farthest they can travel is 50 meters.
Novice
Novice level in firebending is the stage of control and learning how to utilize your breathing to create and control fire. Novice benders can create fires with little destructive force and also little ability to burn objects and other people.

Blocking Fire- This technique is described perfectly in its name. A firebender uses his own skill with the fire element to block an incoming firebending technique of his rank or lower. You must put forth the amount of chi that your opponent put forth to use the technique multiplied by two.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Fire Circle- This technique requires a firebender to create a whip of fire in their hands. They then must circle their arms so that the whip will spiral around their torso into a circle of fire. This technique holds no offensive or defensive purposes but can be used to add extra fire to their next attack. This addition would improve the technique by a half of a Rank.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Fire Jabs/kicks- The jab of fire is nothing more than an extension of a punch or kick with the element of fire. A bender will extend their right or left limbs and out of it will come a ball of fire that will correspond with their rank in power and size unless the bender chooses to make the fire jab weaker.
Appearance-
FireJab(Punch)-
- Spoiler:
- Spoiler:
Fire Daggers- The Fire daggers are a concentrated amount of fire that a bender makes into the form of daggers and can be used as freely as regular daggers can be. They can be used for slashing and in some cases throwing. The daggers are 8 inches in length and can cause first degree burns if they come in contact with skin. The burns go up by one degree if the same area is cut multiple times.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Heat Control- This ability allows for a firebender to heat things such as cups of liquids (Water, tea, ect.). It also allows for the user to increase their overall body temperature if they are put into colder conditions. This is done primarily by storing large amounts of fire in their chest and expelling it in a small breath of fire.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Apprentice
Apprentice rank is the level of bending where offensive techniques are capitalized on due to the fact that control of fire has now been mastered. A bender of Apprentice level has the ability to create fire that can burn effectively but has little destructive force when it comes to breaking objects through force.

Blazing Arcs- This technique consists of the bender kicking their legs over their head and arcing them back to the ground in order to create a fire in the shape of an arc that can then be fired at an opponent. The arcs are 5 feet in length.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Fire Whips- This technique allows for a firebender to extend a concentrated amount of fire from their hands to the length of 12 feet and whirl them around their body to fit their fighting style. The whips can only cause minor burns but do have a great amount of destructive force. They are able to crack concrete. A person hit with these whips will sustain bruises and possibly fractured bones.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Shield Of Fire- The shield of fire is a technique that requires the bender to expel flames from their hands and feet while spinning so that an orb of fire will surround hem for a short amount of time and protect them from techniques of their rank or lower. The techniques that are defended against are equal to the amount of chi put into the technique and the rank of the bender. For example. A bender of master rank that uses this technique can use 70 chi to make this technique of master level and defend from master level techniues. This process works the same with the other ranks above Apprentice. You take the original 20 chi and add on 30(for realized) 40(for advanced) and 50 (for master).
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Stream of Fire- The bender uses either their hands or their feet to expel a jet of fire in whichever direction that they choose. The length of the jet is however long the bender wishes, at the cost however of 10 chi per every 8 seconds. The technique also requires an initial 20 chi upon activation. The power of this technique depends entirely upon a benders rank.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Fire Augmentation- The fire augmentation technique is arguablly the most advanced of the Apprentice set. It allows a bender the ability to manipulate the flames in their area. With respect to their rank of course. An apprentice would be able to move an amount of flames equal to that of an average vehicle in size. The bender cannot use their techniques with this fire, rather they can only direct it towards something or someone.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Realized
A Realized Fire bender is one who has become a proficient user of the element to the point that they are able to be enlisted into the fire navy and possibly attain the rank of commander. Most commanders in the fire nation's navy are ranked as Realized benders. By this rank a bender will begin to understand the concept known as "Power Bending". which is self explanatory in a sense that it deals with the harnessing of ones chi to surpass their previous limits as a bender. Once this concept is grasped, the moveset of the Realized rank can be learned and attempted to be mastered.

Heat Redirection- Much like the way a firebender uses their chi as a medium for the emitting of fire from their body outwards. This technique relies on the chi as a steady medium. The bender must relax their entire body and allow for their chi to act as a medium between their body, the fire and the place in which they wish to transfer the heat of the flame to. The user of this technique must extend both arms out in their respected directions and with one hand they will draw in the heat of the flame as steam or smoke and after allowing the heat of the flame to transfer through their own chi, they will expel it out of the other hand. this technique has been used by benders to put out building fires, cool steaming waters and even by masters to harden the magma of volcanoes.
Appearance- The bender on the right is utilizing the technique.
- Spoiler:
Fire Lashes- This technique is one of the more simple in terms of stancing and instruction. The issue that arises for most benders however, is that they are unable to hold the flame at a certain length and maintain it. The bender must extend a flame that can be from 10 feet in length to 18 feet in length into the air and when they are ready, slam it down onto the ground.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Pressure Control- This technique can be explained as a gradual build up of a bender's chi. This buildup can be used to melt metal and or ice. But it is not limited to these substances, depending on the amount of heat that is expelled from the body will determine the material that can be melted and the pace at which it can be melted. This pronciple ofcourse applies to skin contact with a person who uses this technique. If such a thing happens, burns to the skin are un avoidable. This pressure build up is not sustainable for periods more than 10 seconds.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Charged Techniques- These are techniques that prior to unleasching, the bender condenses a large amount of their chi and reinforces the original technique with the chi. This is the pinnacle of the technique set for the Realized firebender. Once this technique is mastered, the next level of techniques can begin to be grasped by the bender. Techniques of this level carry much more destructive force as well as burning capabilities. Both hands must be used to execute this technique due to the excessive amount of chi that is needed to leave the body. One hand would not be a large enough medium.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Fire Bomb- This technique is executed by a bender storing up their chi and condensing it into an orb like form. thebender then has the choice to either expel the fire outward in which case it will explode on contact with whatever it touches. Or the bender can send it shooting directly towards the ground and send fire out in all directions from themselves.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Advanced
An advanced firebender is a firebender who has reached the natural peak of their abilities. It is at this level where a bender is able to manipulate flames as an extension of their own personalities. Very few firebenders have ever risen above this level, for it takes a firebender who is enlightened and is able to purge themselves from the shackles that are their physical limitations as a bender.

Jet Propulsion- This technique allows a firebender the ability to shoot out in a certain direction at incredible speeds and also the ability to take flight. By condensing the flames being shot out of the hands or feet, a bender can create a powerful but small flame with enough force to lift them from the ground and fly around.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Fire Comet- This technique requires a greater amount of chi upon activation than any other advanced technique. The bender creates a large circle of flames around them and continues to build them until their are enough flames to create a sphere of fire that is 30 feet in diameter. The sphere is then launched.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Fire Missles- The technique allows for a bender to shoot out multiple large blast of fire from their limbs. The flames will meet up at a certain point to create a large explosion. This technique is used purely for the destruction of large structures and the elimination of many enemies.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Pressurized Fire Stream- This technique requires a bender to build up a high amount of flames in the palm of their hands so that they can then launch a fire stream that cover 50 feet in front of them with 30 feet for its width at its 50 foot mark. This technique is used mainly for the burning of landscapes and is rarely used for it requires 100 chi to use.
Appearance-
- Spoiler:
Fire Pinwheel- This technique although small compared to the rest of the advanced techniques, has the unique ability to seek out its enemy and will not burn out until a certain time limit is reached(2 posts).
